You might be on the fence whether you want to go completely wireless with your Internet connection or not. Going wireless doesn’t just mean using a wireless router or a wireless modem. Wireless Internet service means you get your online fix through the cell phone and the cell phone alone.

There is another option where you can use a satellite card provided by your cellular provider. The card plugs in via USB port and runs a wireless signal from the cell phone company through to the computer. Still wireless, but not on your phone, but the computer.

More and more companies are offering this service as phones get bigger and more sophisticated. People who live in rural areas often don’t have any options like DSL or cable, so the wireless satellite card is a great option. If you do get a wireless service it is a bit more expensive, so you’ll want to utilize it to the maximum.

How to utilize you wireless Internet service:

Save time and multi task. If you are on a plan that bills per text search or minute, choose what you search wisely. Don’t upload, download or have friends send you pictures that you will open on the phone. Save it for later. If you don’t have a limited plan, multi-task your chores so you can save time if you aren’t saving money.

Check your email when you are waiting in line. A person spends three years of their life waiting in some type of line, so that’s a lot of time to surf the web!

Surf the web as you sit in traffic. Don’t try to do this if you are moving in traffic, only if you are in an accident or construction and stopped for long periods of time.

Save money by combining services.

Companies love to reel you in by giving you a discounted rate if you purchase multiple services. The company you are getting the cell phone coverage with and then the wireless Internet plan will save you money. Sure, your cell phone bill will be higher because you are using text, but is it less than what you would pay for a cellular provider and a high speed internet provider?

Make sure to use the Internet.

If you need to do some research, why don’t you hit up the Internet before you put your shoes on, start the car and trek to the library. The library might not even have the most up to date information, like the Internet would. The Internet might not have the answers or the references you need, but you can take it one step further.

Many libraries have their card systems online, so you can browse their books and see what is available before you leave. Put a book or two on reserve so that it is ready for pick up when you get there. Don’t waste time looking up the index number or browsing through rows and rows of books unless you have to.

While there are many online users out there who are constantly looking for a good shopping cart internet software, here are 3 tips to consider before actually signing up proper with them.

Commitment Level

While it is very easy for any online user to just sign up for the numerous free trials that are offered by shopping cart providers, it is another thing when we talk about signing up proper with them. Before you sign up proper with any of these service providers, have you taken the time to consider your commitment level? Do you have a budget in place to invest in your ecommerce business? Because majority of shopping cart providers will charge you monthly for the use of their solution. If you don’t have a budget in place, you may not have enough cash to sustain your store for a period of time. And have you also decide on a time frame that you will commit to this venture? Usually a minimum requirement of 6 months to a year when starting out would be ideal as you need time to build and stabilize your online business.

Game Plan Ready?

This is where you decide on what to sell in your online store. Have you found a reliable supplier or are you planning to use a drop ship company? If you already have in mind what to sell, have you sort out the pricing for each product? Because you need to make enough profit to cover the cost of the product and the running of your entire store. You need to plan on how you are going to promote your online store. Please take some time to learn up on what is SEO and how you can make your store more visible to the search engines. Some merchants may prefer to use PPC (Pay Per Click) or they could also engage the services of a reliable SEO expert. You may check with your shopping cart service provider to see if they offer such services to help you.

Which Service Provider?

Which brings me to ask which service provider are you going to use that is able to offer you the best bang for your buck. Because you need to understand that it is not the shopping cart that will determine whether you succeed or not. It would be wise to choose one that comes with a full range of features for you to use to promote your store. The bulk of the work depends on you. You need to make your store visible to search engines, your stuff needs to be competitively priced for you to sell and you need a service provider that will support and assist you when you run into any technical problems.

Summary

That’s quite a few things to think about before signing up proper. But if you do your homework well, you will be able to succeed. Don’t be afraid to give it a try. Happy selling!

There should be no rivalry between web design and search engine optimization. Both are important aspects in having a website. However, both are quite different parts, and it is easy for some to consider one with more importance. Website design and search engine optimization are two complementary processes. One will be virtually useless without the other. Your website will not be seen no matter how well-structured it is without tactics like search engine optimization. However, working to make your website number one is also useless if your webpage does not provide good user experience.

Several websites are being put up each day, and this makes the cyberspace a vast universe of clustered websites, each trying to get attention from visitors, like you. If you search on Google for something, many choices appear. These are pages from sites that offer the information you are looking for. There are many ways for them to get your attention. The owners can pay to advertise their sites on the internet, but the most popular way today is SEO, a long process that also brings about long-term results.

Search engine optimization is a complicated process whose main objective is to increase the ranking of a site through organic methods. You do not pay advertisers in this case, but you pay the people who will handle it-if you cannot handle the job yourself. Search engine optimization is not a one-time affair but a continuous job. It includes the proper use of keywords, production of content, generation of backlinks, and so on. It may sound simple, but it is a demanding task, especially for websites within highly competitive niches. When done successfully, it can pull your web pages to good positions on search engine results pages.

What if your site is on the first page of Google results and someone opens your site but finds too many animations and graphics? This is already beyond the control of any SEO specialist. This is where a web designer enters. A web designer makes sure that your site will look good and appropriate, meaning it should be inviting to visitors. There should be no clutter of running objects, animations, and flash presentations-which tend to annoy most people. An appropriate-looking site means it should have a layout and a theme that depends on its purpose.

Web designers also ensure that the webpage is easy for visitors to navigate around. People going to your website should find it easy to go from the homepage to the different sections of your site and back. People who visit your webpage do not like to spend a long time in finding what they want. Giving your visitors an easy browsing experience will make them want to stay longer which will give you quality traffic.

You put up your website to provide information to people, and they want information to be accessible. The website should be structured well that it leads people to the content of your site-not to drive their attention away from it.

There are a lot of benefits to having a dedicated server, the problem is that the cost and the hassle of using them is usually more than a small business owner is prepared to deal with. In order to get around this problem virtual private servers were created, they offer most of the benefits of a dedicated server at a price that is much closet to that of a shared server.

Virtual private servers were created in order to address most of the issues that people had with shared hosting without the expense of a dedicated server. Basically it is shared hosting that has a partition between the different sites that are on the same server. This way for all intents and purposes your site acts like it is on its own server, even though in reality this is not the case.

The main reason that virtual private servers have become so popular is that are much more secure than a shared server would be. Things that happen to the other sites that are on the server will not affect your site because there is a partition between them. The result is that your site will not be exposed to any threats because of the other sites on the server.

The other benefit that a virtual private server offers is that you can create your own programs. This is something that you would not be able to do if you were on a shared server since your programs would affect all of the other sites. This is why you are normally limited to the programs that the hosting company offers. Most of the time this works fine but it can be an issue if you want to do something unique with your site.

One thing to keep in mind about a virtual private server is that it does not provide you with any more disk space or bandwidth than you would get on a shared server. Therefore it does not emulate a dedicated server in some pretty important ways. This is rarely an issue, virtual private servers exist primarily to allow sites that are not big enough to require a dedicated server to get the other benefits they offer.

Most small businesses will find that a virtual private server is the ideal solution to their hosting needs. They usually do not have large enough sites to require a dedicated server but they do need things like good site security. Given that they cost is not all that much higher than you would get with shared hosting there is really no reason not to think about using a virtual private server.

The first thing that you have to do in order to build a website for your company is to find a place to have it hosted. This should not present any major challenges since there are lots of companies that will do it. There is however a pretty big difference in quality from one hosting company to another so you do have to be able to identify which are the reliable ones.

One of the best ways to tell if a hosting company is reliable is to look at how long they have been in business. Companies that do not provide reliable service usually find that they lose all of their customers and go out of business pretty quickly. A company that has been in business is by no means guaranteed to be reliable but it is a pretty good sign.

When you are looking at how long the company that you are dealing with has been in business it is important to make sure that they are the ones who will actually be hosting your site. There are a lot of hosting companies that are actually just resellers of hosting. That means they are basically just selling hosting that is offered by somebody else. The problem with dealing with these companies is that you really have no idea who is actually hosting your site. You will also have problems if you need to contact them because you have a problem since you will need to go through a middleman. It is best to avoid dealing with resellers and stick to companies that do the hosting themselves.

Another important thing to look at when you are choosing a hosting company is the quality of their customer service. While your goal needs to be to find a reliable host you do have to realize that even the more reliable ones will still encounter problems from time to time. It is important that there be a customer service representative there twenty four hours a day so that any problems can be fixed. You really can’t afford to have your site down while you wait for somebody who can fix the problem to show up.

One other warning sign that you should look for when you are choosing a web host is a company that puts too many sites on the same server. In order to save money a lot of the low cost hosts will try to cram as many sites as they can on to a server. There is nothing wrong with using a shared server but it does become a problem if you have too many of them all on one. The quality hosting companies will limit the number of sites that are sharing the server so that this won’t be a problem.

Designing a website, you have lots of ideas and options wide open. Any mistake can make your website fall short of a successful and valuable resource.

The following lists of common mistakes need to be addressed while designing your website.

Alt and Title text:

Include alt text on every page for the images and it should not be too long. Title should be unique for every page of your website. Never include too much text in the alt and title attribute; however it should be clear, concise, and short.

About Us:

Every website should be clear about its purpose. It should include brief information about the company and its value for the visitor. Every homepage should have a link for this page. It should provide enough information so that the visitor won’t be confused about the website’s purpose.

Archive URLs:

Web sites change web addresses of pages when they are outdated and move off the main page, into archives. This can affect the search engine placement since links to pages becomes broken. When you first create your Web site, ensure you do so in a manner without having to change the URL.

Content Density:

Don’t include too much of information at one place. Be informative about the information you provide. Keep your points short and simple. Provide the information in a section wise. Bullet lists are an excellent means of breaking up information into sections which will not drive away visitors to your Web site.

Decorative Images:

Use decorative images as little as possible since loading time becomes more. Use images to illustrate content and it should be relevant to the content.

So you have decided that you want to have your own website, after all, online is an ever growing industry and a lucrative way to earn money. Now all you have to do is design a good website. With the Internet becoming a hugely competitive place, just throwing up a website simply won’t cut it anymore. Your site needs to look professional looking, any sign of being put together by a novice will result in your visitors clicking away from you and going elsewhere.

Website design used to be a very specialist task and indeed still is if you are wanting something complex, however demand has grown to such a level that there are quality website editors that do not require you to learn any html or require any programming skills.

One of the most popular and easy editor to use is Kompozer and this can be downloaded completely free. As with most editors, it is really simple to use… when you know how! If you don’t know how then you could be in for a long and arduous learning curve that is well noted to be full of frustrations and petty irritations that take an age to solve. Rest assured, the same applies to the paid versions too.

So now you are faced with two choices, should you grit your teeth, grasp the learning curve by the throat and accept that you have to put any earnings from your website on hold while you self teach yourself web design or you make a small investment and get yourself some quality Kompozer tutorials.

There are various clips of tutorials readily available but unfortunately they are usually poorly videoed and dubbed over with distracting music making learning a struggle. A well presented collection of tutorials can not only save you time and money – they can save your sanity as well.

My first reaction upon hearing about Nokia’s 41-megapixel 808 Pureview was that it was an absurdity, a perfect example of the very worst of consumer electronics, and a total miss. But the more I read, the better I understood that this phone isn’t just some freak of nature with a ridiculously high number attached to it. It’s just the slightly awkward first steps of a serious move by Nokia to differentiate itself. If you’ve only skimmed the news, there are some things you should probably know about this strange beast of a camera.

First, the 41 megapixel figure is really misrepresentative, not to say untrue. It doesn’t take 41-megapixel photos in any way, shape, or form. Even in the special high-res creative mode, it “only” produces 38 megapixels. Mostly it will be taking normal-size shots, between 3 and 8 megapixels. So what the hell does this 41 megapixel figure even mean?

It means Nokia is being smart about the way cameras at this size actually work. I wrote a while back about how HD does not always mean high definition, and cameraphones were an excellent example of this. Their tiny sensors and bad lenses meant that while they may produce pictures of a certain size, the quality was sorely lacking. This was because they insisted on wringing every possible pixel out of an incredibly small sensor. The 808′s sensor (supposedly manufactured by Toshiba) is not small. At 1/1.2″, it’s four or five times the size of most cameraphone sensors, including the one in the iPhone 4S. Bigger in fact than the sensors in most point-and-shoots. Now, when you make your sensor bigger, you can either keep the same resolution but have bigger wells or photosites (which detect light and make up pixels), which usually improves sensitivity. Or you can keep the same photosite size and just put more of them on the sensor, which improves resolution. In this case Nokia has done the second thing.

But they’ve done it almost to an absurd amount, and they know that their lens, good as it is (and fairly fast – F/2.4 is solid, though there’s lots of distortion right now), can’t really resolve detail well enough that 41 megapixels would be necessary. Even on full-frame cameras that many pixels is questionable.

There are two options to host your website. One is to buy your own hardware and software and deploy the website. The second one is to use an Internet Service Provider (ISP) service. The first option is quite expensive and technical in nature. You have to buy hardware (server), software and licenses. Apart from that, you need technical assistance to manage web server. You have to fix bugs, viruses, DDOS attacks etc. So, it is quite expensive if you choose the first option.

The second option is to choose some Internet Service Provider (ISP). So, you rent a server from ISP. There are many advantages of having a server in ISP. First advantage is the connection speed. ISPs are connected with high bandwidth lines and so overall speed of the response is very fast and reliable. There is no delay. The second advantage you have is that ISPs have powerful and reliable hardware. This hardware is capable of serving many websites at a time. They have proper load balancing and backup servers. Third advantage is that your website will be secure and live all the time, commonly called 99.99% up time.

There are many things to consider when you choose an ISP. The first and foremost is the connection of the provider with the customers called online support. ISP should be able to provide 24×7 live support. The second thing to consider is whether ISP takes daily backup of the sites or not. Computer is a machine and can malfunction any time. ISP must be able to reproduce the data. ISP should not charge more for high traffic volume if your website is busy all the time. There should not be any bandwidth restriction. You may upload any content videos, files, sounds etc. ISP must provide email service. Emails are essentials when you go online. Customers contact you via email. The server must be configured with proper extensions and modules. Check whether ISP provides database support. You may start a website as static content in it but as the time passes and customers contact you, you need to save data in database so ISP must provide database support.

There are three ways an ISP can help you. One is shared server where many websites are shared on a single server. It is low cost solution but not an option for large busy sites. Second option is to use dedicated server where the server holds only your website. It is the best way to do the business via website but expensive. The third option is use co-location. You place your own server in ISP premises and use the technical infrastructure of ISP.

Is there any disadvantage of using ISP? First is that you need to trust an ISP that they will provide reliability and security to your website. Website performance may be low if you use a shared server. If ISP becomes blacklisted due to illegal use of websites, you may waste your time to move your website to some other ISP. Another important point is that if your ISP is near to you then the response of your website will be faster.
